We’ve Restored More Than 309,000 Outages in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi

We’ve restored more than 309,000 outages in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi caused by multiple landfalls Harvey made since its arrival nine days ago. Of that total number, 259,000 were in Texas.

Crews of 2,358 workers continue to safely restore power as quickly as possible, but flooding is significantly impacting Entergy’s ability to restore power to customers in some areas, and flooding is expected to continue for several days.

Thousands of Entergy Texas customers remain without power due to transmission line outages and flooded substations. As floodwaters recede and large transmission lines are repaired, estimated times of restoration will become clear. Late Sunday, we will be able to begin providing individual customers better restoration estimates via phone and text message. Entergy Texas expects to be able to inform customers when they will receive power.

At this time, 17 substations are affected by water. Of those, five are significantly affected, where extensive damage may have occurred.

Workers are repairing the damaged equipment and restoring these lines, which will restore power to large sections of customers, but work is being hampered as crews are unable to access these areas or assess equipment that remains under water.

We are developing project plans and ensuring materials are available to repair or replace equipment as soon as it’s safely possible after waters recede.

Once these assessments are made, we will be able to estimate restoration times for customers in those areas. Customers can expect extended outages until we have the ability to assess both conditions and repair time of these complex facilities.

The areas most impacted by these outages are Orange County, Hardin County and Huntsville in the Groveton and Corrigan areas.
