Restoration Work Continues Following Winter Storm

Share
Friday, December 08, 2017

Winter weather dealt a strong blow to portions of Louisiana Friday, knocking out power to some 72,300 Entergy Louisiana customers. As of 7 p.m., power had been restored to more than 25,000.

A storm team of approximately 700 continued working to restore power Friday night to the remaining 47,000 customers in the areas hit hardest by the weather – Tangipahoa, Livingston and East Baton Rouge parishes. Some 28,000 of the outages were in Tangipahoa Parish alone.

Power is expected to be restored to 95 percent of the affected customers in the Baton Rouge metro area and southwest Louisiana by midnight Saturday depending upon weather conditions. If weather allows, crews will continue working through the night restoring power to the remaining customers in those areas.

On the North Shore, outages continued to climb throughout the day as the weather system moved across the state. Heavy, wet snow coated the area, causing tree limbs to break and fall onto power lines and causing widespread outages.

Additional crews from unaffected areas of Louisiana as well as from Arkansas are helping restore power to the area.

Below are details on restoration estimates for the hardest hit areas:
